Mental health promotion project Career development for sustainability at Ban Samae Community, Tha Phaya Subdistrict, Pak Phanang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province Prof. Kumlai Somrak Aj. Sumoltip Sontimuang Aj. Suttida keawmoongkun Background: The Samae Community consists of 230 individuals (73 households). The occupations of the people in the Samae Community include agriculture. Live together like a relative Most health behaviors are inappropriate for chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. They were severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in several aspects 1) Health: the community causes stress, anxiety, and insomnia.2) economy: they couldn't sell their products from the farms because the fresh market closed. 3) Social: People in the community cannot gather together to do activities. Don't leave the house and less participation in the community 4) Environmental: The area of the community is a lowland area with standing water a source of disease transmission. Due to the pandemic, These were resulting in a loss of family income. Furthermore, a majority of the community members around experienced moderate to severe stress, affecting their mental health. This project is crucial to improve their quality of life post-pandemic. The School of Nursing, Walailak University, recognizes that the quality of life is of utmost importance in supporting a healthier. In the past few years, several countries around the world have suffered from the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Samae Community has also been highly impacted by the pandemic situation. Then, “To Promote mental health, Well-being, and Family Income by Curry paste group, fairy mushroom cultivation: Ban Samae Community, ” was formulated to enhance community economic and promoting the mental health among community members. Objective: 1. In order to create leaders and professional groups, have knowledge, skills, health promotion, creating a career, reducing the effects of the outbreaks of the covid - 19 in the community. 2. To create a mechanism for driving health promotion Create a career of the outbreak of the Covid - 19 in the community. 3. The affected group has increased revenue. Have better mental health Period: Project period, starting date 1 January 2023 Project ending date 31 December 2023 Total of 12 months Collaboration project: The success of this project was the result of collaboration among community leaders, Baan Wat Sa Health Promoting Hospital, Tha Phaya Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Pak Phanang District Community Development, , Wat Sa School, community philosopher, Ban Samae Curry Paste, Pak Phanang Non-Formal and Informal Education Centre, Pak Phanang District Public Health, Thai Health Promotion Foundation, and other NGOs working in the community, and the arrangement by the School of Nursing, Walailak University. Target group: The target audience for this project is the community leaders The main target group is the population that will participate in the project. and expect behavioral changes to occur It is a working group of 15 people, a group of 73 people affected, a total of 88 people. Secondary target group is the population group that receives benefits from project operations. Including people who receive benefits in the community, totaling 140 people. Process: Firstly, the community leaders were trained as core personnel of the project, focusing on knowledge such as project management, online marketing, family’s income management, Curry paste group and fairy mushroom cultivation methods. and learn how to prepare household income and expenditure accounts activities to promote mental health and activities to promote occupational safety. Then, they cooperated with other community members, and successfully project. Finally, the project was expansion to everyone in community and others who interested by the knowledge management strategy. Project Outcome: 1. the curry paste group to create income for the group and household, 80 %. 2. 100% knowledge about mushroom cultivation correctly. 3. Safe food is provided to households by growing vegetables along the fence (refrigerator next to the house) to enhance mental health and increase income. 4. The curry paste making occupation group had an increased household income of approximately 500 baht/month. 5. 80% improvement in mental health. 6. Learn about simple household accounting 80% 7. 62 people saving money in village banks. 8. There is a group of disabled people with weak limbs who have a career growing mushrooms for sale. Consequently: This project not only improved their quality of life but also created new job opportunities. They have successfully planting using organic methods is more advantageous for the people in the community, as it promotes healthier food consumption as well.
